Starting to get Cold!

Now is the time to start weatherizing your house! Now that is turning cold, people are gonna start really feeling the drafts. One of the best ways to make your home more energy efficient is to seal up air leaks. The easy ones are around doors and windows. Install outlet insulator covers. The harder ones to take care of are the leaks found in the attic. Many of those are covered by insulation. Everybody knows that warm air rises. This warm air escapes through the unsealed ceiling penetrations (lights, fans, plumbing and wiring) and causes a "chimney effect". The warm air escaping out the top must be replaced with air from somewhere else. (infiltration either through the crawl space or leaks in the downstairs) The average home can expect a substantial difference by sealing the leaks, between 10-15% on average. You can also feel a difference too!
